# Chief Agent Laith Kallikos Laith Kallikos is a Chief Agent within the Republic Intelligence Bureau. He is publicly known as the Republic’s leading viral expert, and an attached agent to the Office of the Vice Chancellor. ### Appearance and Character Laith Kallikos fashions himself in a Republic Intelligence uniform, maintaining a professional demeanor while on operation. He is often spotted in the company of what people can only describe as a floating orb droid, along with the occasional Umbra ARC detachment. Usually, his long, jet-black hair often remains unkempt. Laith’s deep crimson eyes illuminate in the darkness, a valuable tool used for intimidation. Compared to his younger brother, Jervis, he possesses a slightly smaller frame. He prefers to never walk alone, finding the company of his colleagues as entertaining, and instrumentally valuable. Laith carries himself in a distinctly calm manner, approaching people with a naturally curious attitude. He is one of the few Chiss that operates within the Republic, having been exiled from the Chiss Ascendancy a few years ago. His Chiss identity is strongly tied to his methodical way of thinking. ### History #### Brothers in Exile Born as a Kallikos, Laith was destined to inherit no lands in his mother’s name, nor a comfortable position as a military officer like his father. He was born on Csilla, the capital of the Ascendancy. Raised in a colony, he pursued higher education alongside his brother, Jervis Kallikos, the both eventually being accepted into a prestigious academy in their early teens. After graduating, Laith and Jervis were inducted into the Chiss Expansionary Force, being delegated to a private research sector due to their high affluence and academic prowess. The naturally curious Chiss used the opportunity, much to the annoyance of his supervisors, as an excuse to experiment and tinker with collected materials from asteroid belts. While not necessarily breaching protocol, his obsession with testing resulted in him receiving a demerit for insubordination after refusing to obey his lead research agent on an experiment. The Ascendancy’s internal affairs recognized Laith as a mischievous, yet genius researcher, deciding to confront him regarding his antics. A member of the Obbic family was present during the confrontation, speaking on Laith’s research projects. However, not much is known from what was discussed, though Laith strongly urged his brother for a drastic action. A few weeks later, the pair left the Ascendancy using a covert shuttle, seemingly going into exile. #### New Beginnings Soon enough, the pair of Chiss joined a local Republic militia, eventually identified as possible candidates for the Republic Intelligence Bureau. Special Agent Hippopo Amphi scouted them for their high intelligence and research ability, taking them as his protegees. In a few years, along with Agent Amphi’s guidance, the now 21 year old Chiss rose to the position of agent. His first assignments were projects under Chief Agent Peanut, who saw the potential of Chiss intellect. Using his old experiences and specializations, Laith impressed the Chief Agent, soon enough being promoted to Special Agent, a month after Agent Hippopo’s retirement. Upon his elevation in rank, Laith would be put in charge of a planet, that being, Numidian Prime. #### Director Veyss’ Virus The planet of Numidian Prime was known as a haven for smugglers, and a key sight for businesses and enterprise. While the Republic holds a firm grasp on its most vital sector, Celanon, the CIS managed to establish a powerful CIS fleet above the planet. They managed to destroy three Venators, bending Prime space to their will. Luckily, the Republic managed to construct an FOB, powered by a strong shield generator. Throughout many nights, the FOB fell under heavy orbital bombardments, Laith Kallikos remaining under its shield. He used the opportunity to help coordinate relief efforts for local villagers, along with serving as a de facto nurse in its medical facility. However, one day, on a reconnaissance mission, several clones report falling to an unidentifiable infection. The virus, now universally known as the Prime-Corellia Virus, was a CIS manufactured illness deployed by Director Veyss. The former Republic researcher posted himself as the head scientist of the CIS forces, and ran the first and most deadly version of the illness on Numidian Prime. Being the only Republic Intelligence agent there, Laith organized a taskforce with a local Prime scientist to uncover a cure. After several weeks of investigation, the pair succeeded, utilizing a rare flora known as Blue Root to develop the first version of an antidote. Laith proceeded to cure the infected battalions on the planet. Besides curing the infection, Laith used his time to develop a new prototype droid based on the Oracle unit model. He worked vigorously on the modified schematics, employing an engineer to help him with creating shell molds. Arathorn Thorne worked closely with the Chiss, though disappeared under mysterious circumstances, possibly from a CIS ambush. Regardless, the newly developed prototype model functioned as it was meant to, acting as Laith’s loyal, yet free-thinking assistant. Soon enough, Laith was extracted from the planet, along with his valuable resources. Unfortunately, the planet of Kamino and Corellia fell to the same infection, leading the Chiss to once more develop a stronger and more potent solution, a cure. Utilizing the help of Senator Tanu Ha and his Kaminoan laboratories, the nightmare of a galactic scale virus never saw itself into fruition. #### Undisclosed Operations Thanks to his efforts against the viral infection, Laith earned the Chancellor’s Medal. Vice Chancellor Vuthaer Rhyss proposed to attach the accomplished Chiss to the Office of the Vice Chancellor, an offer that Laith took after being given an enticing facility to continue his personal work. The Bureau assigned Laith to classified work, which led to him developing a uniquely powerful network, supporting Republic interests. Under these right set of circumstances, along with his new connections, it eventually led to his rise as a Senior Agent, and in a short week, an established Chief Agent within the Bureau.
