# Lore & History

Wall history, titan lore, and world-building.

# Fritz Dynasty

Monarchs, in most cases, inherit their position based on a hereditary system. This means that the throne is passed down from one generation to the next within a particular family or dynasty. Monarchies can be categorized into absolute monarchies, where the monarch wields absolute power and authority, and constitutional monarchies, where the monarch's powers are limited by a constitution or by the existence of a separate legislative body.

The Fritz lineage has ruled for as long as any known history documents, with no known history to the origins of the royal line. Distinguished by a signature look of white hair and purple eyes, the line holds unforeseen power and has only been away from the throne once before.

</aside>### Overview

The Founding of the Stationary Guard and Royal Government marked a transformative period in the aftermath of the War of the Damned, occurring between the years 227 and 229 AHR. Spearheaded by King Florian I Fritz, this event emerged as a strategic response to the challenges posed by Humanity's rapid growth and the Monarchy's struggle in governing a burgeoning kingdom.

### Key Developments

**King's Response to War's Aftermath (227 AHR):**

King Florian I Fritz, determined to prevent a recurrence of past mistakes, swiftly addressed the aftermath of the War of the Damned. Recognizing that the war had erupted due to Humanity's rapid expansion and the Monarchy's difficulties in managing the kingdom, King Florian sought counsel from trusted advisor Nishizumi Okami.

**Formation of the Royal Government (227 AHR):**

Nishizumi Okami's advice led to a groundbreaking decision. King Florian implemented the formation of a rudimentary government, allowing for the delegation of authority to manage lands, settlements, and tax collection on behalf of the Monarchy. While the king retained absolute control, certain powers were shared with this nascent Royal Government. In 227 AHR, members of the nobility came together to establish the first iteration of the Royal Government.

**Societal Response (227-229 AHR):**

The creation of the Royal Government was met with widespread approval from society. Many saw it as a positive change, providing a channel for addressing grievances with government nobility, as opposed to relying solely on the king.

**Civil Unrest and the Birth of the Stationary Guard (229 AHR):**

By 229 AHR, civil unrest reemerged, particularly in territories bordering Wall Maria, where food shortages intensified. King Florian's response was immediate and sweeping. Rather than deploying the recovering Military Police, still in the aftermath of the war, he chose to split the Military into two. The Stationary Guard was formed, tasked with enforcing the king's will on the fringes of The Walls and protecting those on the outskirts of civilization.

**Leadership and Success of the Stationary Guard:**

Initially led by Commander Reil Leonhart, the Stationary Guard quickly brought unruly territories back into the fold, successfully preventing conflicts from arising. Over time, these defenders on the outskirts became known as the "Defenders of The Walls" for their dedicated work in patrolling and protecting the lesser-inhabited parts of civilization.

### Legacy

The Founding of the Stationary Guard and Royal Government stands as a testament to King Florian's commitment to stabilizing the kingdom post-war. It reshaped the societal structure, providing a more decentralized governance model and ensuring the security of the kingdom's fringes through the establishment of the Stationary Guard.

</aside>## History

The Church of Humanity was founded by Prophet Williard, a man who was allegedly sent a vision by God. A story that has been passed down for generations, his vision was purported to contain terrifying images of enormous giants, now known as titans, approaching the Walls he had previously envisioned God raising from the ground. These images changed his life, and led to his spreading of the gospel that now comprises the modern Church of the Walls' scripture.

Eventually, the Church of the Walls would spread to every face of society in the Walls, including the Royal Family. The Church would remain deeply interconnected with the Royal Family, with the Church partaking in religious ceremonies associated with the crowning of the Royal Monarch, and the Royal Family being revered as the lineage most closely associated with God and his image. In essence, believers of the Church of the Walls view the Royal Family as divinely appointed by God himself, a title which the Royal Family to this day gladly accepts.

As the Holy Prophet Willard aged, his followers continued to spread the word of his faith, acting not only as a beacon of hope for Humanity, but also as a foundation for society's governing moral foundations and principles. Adherents to the faith view the Walls as holy entity, having been erected by God for the preservation of his creation, humanity. Adherents also abide by messages of peace, tranquility, charitability, and, above all else, preservation of the Walls.

Members of the Church today can be seen officiating weddings, hosting prayer groups or mass, and cleaning the Walls alongside members of the Stationary Guard in order to preserve their holy monument. A substantial majority of society maintains a favorable opinion of the Church, and most are heavily religious, adhering to the teachings of Prophet Willard and his religion.

</aside>## History

On the day the heavens fell, and the angels died, the scourge of humanity struck down as a punishment by the one ruling entity, known only as “Ymir”. Humans as tall as trees, driven by bloodlust, set out to devour humanity. Ymir witnessed the helpless beings unable to withstand the punishment, so in her infinite wisdom, she raised three walls to protect humanity lest they be wiped out. Ymir had pitied her subjects; therefore, she gave them a chance at redemption. And so, Ymir raised three sections of Walls; these we know as Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sina.

This legend has been spread through the walls, however the truth of such is questionable.

</aside>## History

Those within the Scouting Legion deployed for a standard titan training in 853 AHR, laughing and interacting with one another as titans were being slain. Morale was steady, and the sun had barely risen when the warning bells rang. Just before a retreat was ordered by higher-ranked officials, several scouts would take notice of a massive bolt of lightning that struck the plains beyond the wall.

The sound of loud stomps would begin to fill the air as those present would take note of a *Large Woolen-Covered Titan* taking charge at the wall. It would break through, leaving a large hole within the hall, and stamping thousands of people within their homes. Titans begin to flood the gate, sprinting their way into the district and adding to the chaos and destruction that was already sweeping the area. The evacuation bells rang throughout the district as civilians rushed to pack their belongings and run out of the other gate, heading towards the Trost District. Families were separated, and even while many tried to get out, they were stomped and killed in the process. Blood filled the streets as thousands of families and Military Personnel lost their lives that day. With the lingering questions as to what occurred that very day and why it even happened, higher-ranked officers scrambled to take the next course of action..

With the corrupted government still in leadership, those within the Shiganshina Breach would still have major PTSD from the event, as things would begin to spiral out more and more. Civilians would come with questions wanting answers, as the Military wouldn’t even be able to answer them. While the Military would make preparations to fix their beloved gate, more questions would come to the surface. What was that thing? It was a titan but looked different.. It sounded different and was strong..

Days would pass as the Military would notice an increase in titan activity ever since the breach. Military presence would slay the onslaught of titans as they would hear the same loud steps they heard previously, charging right at the walls again. “AGAIN?!” a few military personnel would exclaim as they could not defend their beloved district.

Right after they built a net to place over the wall, the large Brute would strike through the net, stepping onto houses and the streets, the military desperately tried to clean up. As they would stand in awe, the titan would strike through the Inner Gate- breaching it as titans would begin to flood through– walking to the interior side of the walls, which included Trost, Ceremonial, and places nearby. The Scouting Legion would defend what they had left, as they couldn’t defend it anymore. They would quickly get pushed back as they would be forced to defend the other districts before they got breached as well. The Military would begin to retreat to other districts as they would ring the bell, alerting civilians of the turmoil within the surrounding districts.

## Present Day

The Military is still working hard on the dream to reclaim the third wall which was once theirs. Expeditions are often scheduled, with the hopes that they can reach Wall Maria and take back what's rightfully theirs. So far, the easternmost district, Holst, has been reclaimed by the Military. Only time will tell what further reclamations show successful. There is hope that someday, we can see the lost districts populated as they once were.

</aside>## History

Throughout the centuries, numerous bloodlines have risen close to the fame and power of the Fritz bloodline, the most notorious of them being the **Sugimoto bloodline**. It is an undeniable fact that the Sugimoto bloodline at their highest status had a member of their family within all major government parties, banking structures, real-estate corporations, and farming markets. During this era, the bloodline was led by the notorious **Erie Sugimoto** who appeared in the spotlight of The Walls following the defeat of the **Hannes bloodline** during the **Battle of Archimedes’ Journal**. Due to their influence across The Walls, Erie Sugimoto began to cement her place in the history books by seizing all land, property, and possessions she could get her hands on. This led to the bloodline successfully creating a monopoly across several districts thus making it almost impossible for any other bloodline to grow their own wealth and power. These actions slowly caused resentment to grow against the Sugimoto by three bloodlines which had recently been at significant losses. These bloodlines were: the **Jaeger bloodline** led by **Jacquline Jaeger**; the **Smith bloodline** led by **Sir Arnold Smith**; and the **Pixis bloodline** led by **Marlow Pixis**. The three heads began to plot against Erie Sugimoto in an attempt to bring down the Sugimoto bloodline and regain their influence they had lost. The first notable assault against the Sugimoto bloodline was the trade embargo led by the Pixis bloodline.

The largest Sugimoto revenue was cart manufacturing and by creating blockades outside the Krolva district where this factory resided, their income decreased significantly. The second attack was achieved by the Smith bloodline who torched the Sugimoto farms located in the wilderness of Wall Rose. Without these supplies, their farming business went bankrupt and the bloodline took another large hit. Finally, the largest of these three attacks was supposed to be performed by the Jaeger bloodline. The goal was to frame Erie Sugimoto with smuggling large quantities of gunpowder through Sugimoto’s companies. The materials were smuggled into the Sugimoto property and placed upon several of their transport vehicles however this would quickly turn south as a worker in the property would happen to be smoking near the gunpowder when a spark of his cigarette would land onto the products igniting almost instantly. Eight people would be killed in the disaster, including the current heir of the Sugimoto bloodline. Erie Sugimoto was furious with this discovery and the Military Police began an investigation into how the gunpowder would find its way into the transport vehicles. The investigation would conclude with the gunpowder originating from the Jaeger bloodline but there was no evidence to actually convict any of the bloodline members and thus no charges were made.

However, now that the Jaeger bloodline had been found to be connected to the incident and the previous two events going without any consequences, Erie Sugimoto would take the matters into her own hands. She would declare war against the Jaeger bloodline who would quickly be backed up by the Pixis and Smith bloodlines. A series of spontaneous attacks would take place over the next few months with many arrests being made by the Military Police on both sides. Neither side seemed to be backing down from the conflict and what started off as simple anger over lost income would become one of the largest conflicts seen between several bloodlines. The conflict would finally come to an end after nearly 50 casualties when the Military Police would raid Sugimoto manor and attempt to arrest Erie Sugimoto for inciting murder and numerous crimes following the attacks. Unfortunately, she refused to go along with the military personnel and would be gunned down after brandishing a weapon. Once news spread about the incident, the remaining members of the Sugimoto bloodline would be banished out of their standings and positions to their connections with the war between bloodlines and fall from the fame they once claimed. They grew too powerful than they could handle and would eventually fall from grace like all those in the past who have attempted to capture ultimate power and glory.

## Present Day

The Sugimoto bloodlines still exist around The Walls and remain in government and military structures, but are only a small reflection of the former influence and power they once possessed.

For four years straight, the Military had taken it upon themselves to fight back against the tyranny of the Government and their Interior Police. Multiple deaths would ring out among the high-ranking and high-commanding officers of the Military, to the point where the remaining members could take no more.

The Military would find the killings of their own personnel completely unjust and tyrannical by the Government, as some would go to the extent of creating their own faction: Operation Bird. These individuals would almost portray the freedom fighters of the Eldian population as they would stand for fair treatment between the civilians and the government, but due to the brainwashing from the corrupt leaders, swaying civilians to give ear to their side would be far from easy. While this faction would be created in hopes of getting to the bottom of the corrupt government, another faction- Crownsmark would also be formed. These individuals would fight for the government, pushing for the decisions and leadership of the current figures in power.

Both of these parties would bump heads multiple times as turmoil would spread across every district. Countless raids and bloodshed would take place all around, and not one governmental leader would bat an eye at how the walls were taking a dramatic change into a Civil War. One side would fight for resources and freedom, while the other side would fight for proper rules and regulations. Every time, both parties would be left in utter chaos, with years of this occurring. Branch Commanders and higher ranks would begin to brainstorm as to how all these issues could be quickly resolved, but with little help from world leaders, all would remain futile.

The day was like any other normal day, but under the disguise of tranquility, a storm was silently brewing. Years of planning and missions all led to the culmination of the final operation in the capital, Mitras. Under the guise of the new year marking 853 AHR, Operation Bird would launch its final full-scale mission to save the Stationary Guard Commander Reed Braun.

As multiple soldiers rushed into the dead of night with the moon shining bright in the sky, a battle would ensue between the soldiers searching for freedom and the missing commander and those who swore loyalty to the government and its control. As the battle would rage on quite late during the night, bodies would fall just like a plucked feather. With neither side showing any restraint towards the people they once called comrades. But ultimately, thanks to years of planning, the search operation would end up being fruitful.

Under all the chaos and slaughter, the soldiers would end up finding the commander. The joy of this discovery would be short-lived as the soldiers would gaze upon the injured commander as his left eye was seemingly gouged out. With the Commander now found, Operation Bird received a new burst of energy as they fought the remaining Crownsmark present to fully escape the capital. But with every success comes sacrifices. A combined 12 soldiers would fall during the battle, one that will be etched in history books forever. But for many, a broader question would remain: was the sacrifice to save one person really worth the lives of multiple soldiers? But in the end, Operation Bird has finally managed to get the upper hand over Crownsmark.

*Fueled by frustration and loss after countless rejections from the Government, the civilians of Trost begin their journey toward the Capital.*

Dust kicks up under determined footsteps, their voices low but their hearts loud. Banners wave, eyes burn with purpose; they come not just with anger, but with demands. Just as the carts begin to slow near Mitras, chaos erupts. Crownsmark operatives, disguised among the city guard, turn on the arriving Trost civilians. Blades flash and shouts fill the air as panic spreads across the caravan. Civilians scatter, some running for the alleys, others taking cover behind the carts. The arrival has turned into a brutal ambush.

Gasps ripple through the crowd, the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister collapse, lifeless, struck down in the chaos of the Crownsmark ambush. Their bodies hit the ground, the weight of their legacy crashing down with them. The power vacuum is instant, and uncertainty spreads like wildfire.

*The King- Eric Fritz II drops to his knees*, blood staining the fabric of his robe as his crown tumbles to the ground. With the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and now the King dead, silence floods the capital with an eerie, suffocating stillness. The monarchy crumbles in an instant. Mitras trembles, and with no one left to rule, a storm of rebellion, desperation, and uncertain hope brews among the people.

As Operation Bird and Crownsmark clash in the heart of the capital, the streets tremble beneath their boots. Smoke lingers, the ground is littered with the aftermath, and silence slowly returns. Both sides withdraw. The Capital stands scarred, but the war-torn night finally settles.

The Walls would walk into a new light as those who once ruled over the people would diminish and fade away. New rulers would take various positions slowly, and Eldia would begin to return to the way it should have always been.

## Present Day

The two factions have since disbanded after the war had ended. Following the death of Eric II Fritz, his daughter Athena was crowned queen, a decision that little to nobody objected. The positions of Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister had also been filled, with the Prime Minister position filled by a former Military leader, Military Police Commander Nate Marseille.

The Government and the Military now work together in harmony, benefiting eachother when necessary.

</aside>## The Founding of the Scouting Legion

Humanity has always been fascinated by the outside world, always curious to learn more about the world that extends beyond Wall Maria. This curiosity would culminate in 782 AHR, through the creation of the Scouting Legion, the third branch of the Military, led by its first Commander Oryx Shun. Tasked with exploring and navigating the outside world, the Scouting Legion created their insignia - the Wings of Freedom - as a testament to their strength, bravery, and, of course, freedom in traversing the unknown.

The Scouting Legion was created through a popular referendum sponsored by the People of the Walls, who desired to learn more about the outside world. However, difficulties in securing funding, and difficulties in recruiting enough members brave enough to venture outside into territory dominated by the man-eating beasts known as titans, proved to be initial challenges to the development of this branch. Regardless, the branch carried on, and under the leadership of Oryx Shun, they would usher in a new era of exploring the unknown.

## The First Expedition

In 784 AHR, the Scouting Legion led by Oryx Shun, prepared to venture outside The Walls. Such an occasion marked the first time someone had ever ventured outside The Walls since their erection.

The mission took place just outside of the District of Shiganshina. Members of the Scouting Legion paraded outside of the District, to crowds of cheering civilians, who were just as excited to learn about the outside world as the Scouts were. However, many members of the Scouting Legion felt a tightening in their chest as that outer gate slowly rose. Fear, just as excitement, circled in the minds of Scouts as their Commander led the charge into the uncharted territory.

As the Scouting Legion pushed South outside of The Walls, servicemen expectedly spotted titans approaching their formation. Seeking to avoid confrontation with them at all costs, they navigated around them and pushed onward. Eventually, however, the titan onslaught proved to be too much for the Scouts. As the Scouting Legion pushed further and further outside The Walls, titan density grew more and more, until combat with them was inevitable. The Scouting Legions’ rudimentary swords and shields were little match for the titans who towered over the soldiers. One by one, they were picked off, until the Commander, stunned by the loss of his comrades, ordered a full retreat. The expedition lasted only thirty minutes, and it was a complete massacre.

In the District of Shiganshina, soldiers’ screams to open the gates could be heard from the streets. The gates would eventually open, and to the citizens’ shock and despair, only nineteen of the original 143 would return to the District. Family members of the deceased wailed in the streets, filled with despair, as they knew that they would never see their children again. The first expedition was a complete and unequivocal failure, and public sentiment gradually began to shift against the Scouting Legion following the event. A month after the massacre the Scouting Legion Commander, Oryx Shun, would retire. The fruits of his and his soldiers’ labor would be a rudimentary map with only but a few trees dotted on an otherwise blank canvas.

## The First Titan Kill

In 812 AHR, the Scouting Legion, now led by Commander Erich Jaeger, hooked across the plain valleys beyond Wall of Maria, being fully-equipped this time around with their newly developed 3DMG. As they ventured onwards, many on the front-lines reported of the enormous giants, also known as Titans, making their way towards them. Commander Erich commanded the Scouts to make their way to a nearby forest, in hopes of being able to bait the titans within the forest, separating them and making it easier for them to scurry over them.

Section Commander Brune Grice stuck close to Commander Erich, tracking his every move. Brune would briefly speak with the Commander, letting him know that it would be safe to continue onwards with the Scouts that are already up ahead, leaving those who were slow with their 3DMG in the dust and behind to fend for themselves. Commander Erich Jaeger would deny the suggestion and instead hook towards those stranded deep within the forest. As Erich did so, Section Commander Brune would follow behind, making sure his beloved was kept out of harm's reach.

As they both continued to venture into the forest and retrieve those who may have lost their way in the forest, the titans began coming in small hordes, tilting many trees slowly but surely. Commander Erich Jaeger, taking notice of this, continued his retrieval at a fast pace, pointing to the direction to the outside of the forest for the Scouts. As a few Scouts were unable to be found, Erich changed his direction and headed towards the outside of the forest. Suddenly, he heard whistling coming from his gas canisters and came to an abrupt stop, luckily on top of a branch. He would attempt to hook forward though, it seemed as though he was out of gas.

Before Commander Erich Jaeger knew it, a rampaging titan would begin to headbutt the tree, swaying the tree back and forth. Commander Erich, holding on to the tree for dear life, knew his time was about to come to an end. . . Section Commander Brune Grice, watched from a distance as the titan continued to tilt the tree. Brune knew that he needed to act fast and do something quick if he wanted to save Commander Erich Jaeger from his unforeseeable fate. As he grasped his handles, he would pull his blades out and hook to the titan’s back. While doing so, he would continue with a series of slashes towards the titan’s back, cutting all flesh that was around the region. At one point as he slashed, the titan became limp and started to emit steam. Section Commander Brune Grice would then hook on top of the branch that Erich Jaeger was on, grabbing him, and calling a retreat back to The Walls as the Second Expedition was deemed a success due to the first ever killing of a titan. . .

## Present Day

Today, despite the historic actions of the Scouts' predecessors, the Scouting Legion holds a tumultuous reputation with the rest of the Walls. Viewed as a waste of resources, the Scouting Legion is looked at with disdain by the broader population, who thinks that the money that goes into funding the branch would be better spent fortifying the Walls against the titans that brought destruction and chaos to Wall Maria. Time will tell, however, if that reputation is bound to change.

</aside>## History

With titan engagement growing due to the recent invention of mobility gear, more injuries than deaths began to grow after titan combat, though, the injuries were incapable of being treated due to the status of medicine within The Walls. These issues also became clear in the year 725 AHR, when a plague swept across The Walls. Minor lacerations would grow to fatal infections, broken bones would never heal, and amputations would grow as a prevalent "treatment."

## The Discovery

In 819 AHR, Lenora Calloway witnessed her father die of an infection that was initially just a laceration on his arm from his blacksmith work. She quickly began research into better methods of emergency medicine, using a journal of the recent treatments she had been giving and witnessing, and taking from the various flaws she witnessed. One of these flaws, that she witnessed herself, was infection and the lack of sterile equipment. Medical equipment was rarely, if ever cleaned, and only really consisted of sewing needles and small blades, therefore the equipment being used was used between multiple patients and being cleaned with dirty water. She created a quick mixture of clean water and salt, which created a form of saline solution. When used in medical care, she noticed that tools cleaned with it and wounds being cleaned with it seemed far less prone to infection, and nearly erased the risk of it in emergency treatment. Though, internal wounds grew to be more of an issue. So, she created a small blade, later called a scalpel, that was sharp enough to slice through human flesh without an issue and was petite enough not to cause larger lacerations. Alongside this, she made crutches out of wood that helped people walk better than the existing ones, and trained the existing nurses on sterile stitching procedures. Other equipment Lenora created included fabric masks for surgeons and citizens to wear, paired with stretchy sterile gloves created from wood pulp.

## Continued Innovations

Through the span of a year, she began pushing out her recent inventions and treatments towards injured individuals, which proved successful, though fatalities for the "greater good" definitely surfaced. Basic medical injuries mortality rate grew less and less, and after the newfound existence of safe medical procedures, Lenora had a clinic built within various districts, that provided the nurses with proper equipment to treat the citizens and military, and the success was clearly noted by people capable of walking away from surgeries at long last, and the military being able to efficiently return to their branches rather than succumbing to their wounds.

After medics were efficiently trained and medical groups were founded, Lenora was able to retire and work from home after marrying and having two children, beginning to sell herbal remedies for healing within Trost District, and beginning more tedious tasks for the coming years, including painkillers, though, they have yet to be released…

## Present Day

Today, Lenora's medicinal advancements have revolutionized the Walls medical programs, and led to a significant increase in life expectancy for all of Humanity. In understanding many of the sources of disease, infection, or otherwise dangerous contagions, humanity has learned how to effectively combat these invisible dangers, largely in thanks to Lenora's masterful research and inventions.

</aside>## History

The Ackerman Bloodline has gone into the shadows for numerous years; the Government has always been aware since the unrightful slaughtering of the Prime Minister Mason Smith that they’ve become a traitorous bloodline. The Government had no leads or ideas of the Ackermans' whereabouts, as the Stationary Guard and Military Police Brigade had only dealt with the civil unrest within Wall Maria &amp; Rose from the lies they spew out to Humanity.

Though one day, as the Interior Police were patrolling atop the walls of the Mitras District, the Government caught a glimpse of a cart traveling around the region. Quickly catching suspicion, we apprehended the threat immediately. Unbeknownst to my men, they had just seized the remaining four Ackermen who dared to go against the state. Quickly taken into custody, the King of Humanity himself ordered a public execution of the traitorous individuals who threatened the civil peace within our walls.

Small mishaps would begin to stir within the walls once more as word of the Ackerman Family would shine to light, though they were supposedly “executed” one year prior. As a whole bloodline avoided being wiped out; some would go into hiding and would continue spreading their ideals as they would wait to make another appearance later in time. As one minor slip-up would occur, the Government would get involved, deeming their bloodline as Kill on Sight once more.

An event would be held in Shiganshina, hosted by the Government, as they would raid Shiganshina homes- pulling individuals out of their homes in suspicion of being members of the Ackerman Clan. Civilians would be torn away from their families as chaos would ensue within the district. During this raid, another slip-up would occur as 6 Interior police members would be killed by the Military, as they deemed this whole raid as wrong and cruel.

After this event, the Military would be summoned to Mitras after killing the Interior Police during the raid. 6 Military men who were a part of these killings would also be killed- an eye for an eye at a peaceful meeting.

## Present Day

It is assumed, yet unknown, that the entirety of the Ackerman Clan has been prosecuted or killed. The status of the Clan is presumed extinct.

</aside>## History

King Olaf II Fritz, known as "The Daring," reigned as the courageous and controversial monarch of Humanity within the three Walls. His bold and fearless nature defined his rule, earning him the moniker that would resonate through history. One notable instance of his daring behavior was witnessed when he personally rode to the District of Trost to reclaim it from the Marseille Lineage, who had unlawfully seized control. This audacious move showcased King Olaf's commitment to justice and his willingness to directly confront challenges. Despite his valor, King Olaf II Fritz's reign was marked by controversy, as his decisions sparked debates and discussions among the populace. His unyielding approach to matters of governance and his audacious exploits both garnered admiration and criticism. In the face of adversity, he stood resolute, displaying a courage that left an indelible mark on the collective memory of the Walls.

## The Battle for the Rose Court=

The war between the Fritz family and the Marseille Lineage for control over the District of Trost was a brutal conflict that gripped the District between 410 - 411 AHR, leaving a long-lasting impact on the Marseille Family. The Marseille family was a rising force within the District of Trost and across Wall Rose. They gained prominence through violence, blackmail, and strategic alliances with families like the Smith Bloodline. As their wealth and influence grew, so did their ambition to challenge the established power of the Fritz family. The Marseille family's head, Eibrach Marseille, believed that the district was their property and that the Fritz family were not fit to rule, leading to an inevitable revolt and a brutal battle. As the conflict erupted, clashes between Marseille enforcers and Fritz supporters were common sightings in the streets and the encounters became more bloody resulting in a total of 15 deaths on both sides. Craving power and yearning for a fight, the Smith family joined in on the Marseille lineages side. The combined forces proved to be a formidable opponent to the monarchy.

Outraged by this, King Olaf II Fritz assembled a divine force to march towards the District of Trost. During this period, the population of the district suffered, food reserves ran low and disease caused by the rotting bodies in the street meant numerous bystanders perished and the district had been left to ruin. Outraged, this only fueled the courageous King who inspired his men beyond their limits until they approached the once beautiful Trost district. Our noble King led the charge on his white stallion into the district, catching the cowardly families with their pants down. Swiftly, the enforcers of the monarchy would butcher those who opposed ending a grand total of 200 enemy combatants, quickly placing ownership of Trost firmly in the hands of the Monarchy. Ashamed and embarrassed of herself, Eibrach took her own life before being captured by Fritz enforcers and as for the fate of the Smith head, Eldwin Smith, he disappeared following the defeat and was presumed to die of old age. Following the conflict, the Fritz family revamped the district of Trost creating a safe, blossoming community.

## The illegitimate Bastards of Humanity

The attack on the rightful Royal Family took place on a fateful afternoon in 421 AHR. 13 years into the reign of King Olaf II Fritz, tensions began to rise in the districts from ungrateful citizens who claimed that the King was cruel, reckless, and worse. They worsened when they started hearing about alleged bastard children, being two twin boys from the now extinct Lange family, Osric and Reginald. Upon further investigation, it seemed true that King Olaf II Fritz had the bastard children seen at first sight, with prominent features of the Fritz lineage, with white hair and purple eyes. Before a proper agreement was reached between Fritz and the Lange family, there was already an intrigue between various criminals and children. The bastard children were only 19 years old and completely unfit for the crown, but they went on regardless.

The plan went into motion one cold afternoon in the year 421. The Head Priest's home was raided alongside the Royal Palace. A single royal maid managed to escape the wrath of the group witnessing the doom of the throne before her. Before the king could speak, he and the young woman only saw a glimmer of a purple eye before the person muttered, *“And in the echoes of my silenced steps, the legacy of kings shall fade to dust, father.''* With one quick slice, the man went limp as his crown fell, the assassin quickly catching it before it hit the ground as the group ushered him and the body away. A bystander near the Head Priests home overheard conversations inside, making out two vital sentences "We may spur you to crown the rightful King, or, you may accept the cruel fate of your treasonous family and moronic King." and then a hesitant “I shall not stain my hands nor tarnish the sanctity of our sacred rites by anointing a murderer as King," followed by a thunk, then silence.

A heretic high priest would take the place of the faithful man and crown the false King, and his twin brother would be named as his heir. They would marry noblewomen and bear children, signifying their plan to stay and place their children on the throne. The family continued to show their impotence with brutal punishments and blatant corruption, where the smallest incidents regularly resulted in public executions. However, their greed showed no signs of abating, as seven years into Osric's reign, his heir and twin brother poisoned him. A young maid who witnessed the incident leaked it to the public, but she was quickly executed. The family's reign of terror lasted for several years, although most of the reign has been lost to history. After Reginald, only two rulers are known of the family, his daughter "Queen" Catalina and her son "King" Alberich, and years of darkness followed.

## Legacy

Following Olaf II Fritz's assassination, several decades of illegitimate monarchs succeeded his reign, including the Walls first and only female Monarch, Queen Catalina. Historians view this era as one of the darkest time periods in the Walls' history, as unlike the divinely appointed Monarchs who preceded the illegitimate bastards, these individuals gained their power through deceit, cunning, and murder. Their failures as Monarchs would eventually usher in an equally terrible and unrecorded period of the Walls, known as The Lost Century. Despite this, many still look back at King Olaf II's reign fondly, as the calm before the decades-long storm that succeeded his rule.

With Humanity’s flourishment over the last two centuries, it was inevitable that strife would eventually face this growing civilization. With many settled, as individuals continued about their daily lives, famine and hunger began to plague our once great lands. The three Walls known to Humanity were vital places in which far different lifestyles took their roots. Eventually, conflict would arise in the form of the “War of the Damned.” Settlement leaders across Walls Maria, Rose, and Sina came together with good intentions to discuss the issues The Walls were faced with, however at the conclusion of the meeting, the only known certainty was that conflict was inevitable. With leaders unable to come to a common consensus or resolution as to what efforts they should take in regard to storing all that’d fallen within recent years, circumstances throughout The Walls grew increasingly desperate.

Taking note of the crumbling chain of his fellow leaders, Dukes Lucian Fritz and Tatsuo Sugimoto from the elder council within the houses of Fritz and Sugimoto gathered the civil leaders of The Walls and made valiant attempts to provide plans to restore peace through the lands. During this, however, resentment only grew worse as the words of the two were overshadowed by the many who wished to have nothing more than power over rendering aid to Humanity. And so, as the civil leaders struggled to come together, more conflict erupted that ignited a battle that waged on for several years, later referred to as the “Collapse of Restoration,” in which Humanity split and a civil war broke out.

### Burning of Royal Palace

In 200 BHR, the construction of the Royal Palace began, symbolizing a monumental testament to the visionary leadership of the kings of humanity. Providing shelter to the royals and a place to surely call home. King Delroy II Fritz was acutely aware of the need for a symbol that would unify his people and provide a beacon of hope for generations to come. King Delroy II Fritz embarked on the grand endeavor of constructing the first Royal Palace, a project that would come to embody the enduring spirit of Humanity, and the strength of the Royal Family. The palace's design was a triumph of architectural brilliance, dating to current and past human architecture.

The structure was completed at the end of the year, and stood tall and strong for 13 short years. King Delroy II Fritz took in many to work within the palace, ranging from maids, chefs, janitors, historians, and many others who would be of assistance to the royals residing within it. The workers were provided with the utmost honorable hospitality as they grew closer to members of the Royal Family. During the “War of the Damned,” the Royal Palace was raided. Valuable historical pieces were stolen, which have since been lost to time, and the palace’s kitchen was set ablaze. The fire rapidly engulfed the grandiose structure, and in just three short hours, all that remained was a singed pile of rubble. As disgruntled heretics marched from the scene of the crime, workers of the Royal Palace picked through the wreckage, hoping to salvage what was left of their great creation.

### An act of mercy

Soon after the burning of the Royal Palace, news of the incident spread quickly across The Walls. Questions such as how the Royal Family allowed something so disastrous to occur in such a protected area in Wall Sina lingered within the citizens' minds. This led to unease and nervousness throughout Humanity, as many began to question if the Monarchy could prevent the insurrectionists from further disrupting society. Confusion and doubts flooded the citizens' minds, and wonders about their own safety floated within the air.

A single man named Ormerio Valentine, a citizen of Wall Maria, decided to protest against the Fritz Family. This unruly man hid his true intentions under the thin veil of providing the citizens of Wall Maria with a voice; he urged them to fight for their own safety if the Fritz family could not secure it for them. The Fritz family, however, offered their assurances to the People of Wall Maria, promising them that their safety is guaranteed. Many were able to see through the lies and fears perpetuated by Ormerio, and placed their faith in the Royal Family to bring an end to the senseless violence plaguing The Walls during this period.

Eventually, Omerio’s lies caught up with him. It was understood that his conduct was a poor attempt at furthering anti-Fritz sentiments so that he and his family could take the throne for themselves. Omerio was to be executed for his grave crimes against Humanity, however in an act of mercy, the Royal Family exonerated him, allowing him to live out the rest of his life in an estate located within Wall Sina.

### The reform of the Military Police Brigade

With King Delroy II Fritz being reasonably outraged due to the Burning of the Royal Palace, the First Commander of the Military Police Brigade, Yuno Okami, was in for a rude awakening. As the King entered the HQ of the Military Police Brigade, he informed the Commander with his critiques and concerns about the branch. King Delroy II Fritz generously gave the Commander one last chance to prove himself worthy of the Commander rank, as he was disappointed with the Commander's work within the current time.

Yuno Okami got straight to work, upset at his own lousy mistakes as well as allowing for the Burning of the Royal Palace to slip by him; he wanted nothing more than to make up for his losses. Taking in the gracious wisdom King Delroy provided to him, the Commander would spend countless nights thinking of ways to fix the mess he was in-charge of. It was said King Delroy II Fritz and Yuno Okami met multiple times to discuss the future of the Military Police Brigade, as they were devoted to bring honor to the branch and to put an end to this senseless violence. Commander Yuno would thus begin a decade of strategy that would ultimately bring an end to the “War of the Damned.” If not but for his hard work and wisdom, the Military Police would not be where it is today.

### The awaited restoration for Humanity

As the battle between Humanity finally began to settle, the “War of the Damned” came to an end as King Florian I Fritz gathered his council and set forth onto the final front of battle with his soldiers alongside him. Drawing his sword, he demanded those who wished to continue to tear down humanity to submit to him as they prepared to enter the true Restoration of Humanity. With the rebellious forces refusing to stand down, Florian and his detachment of soldiers swung their swords and swiftly got to work as many bodies began to fall to the King’s powerful blade.

All fighting came to an end as it’s said that a horrible storm engulfed the battlefield, with lightning raining down on those who rebelled. Historic accounts of the true events on this day are conflicted, however one thing is certain - balance was finally restored after this fateful day. One soldier recounted that it was as if God himself aided King Florian in this fight - a battle won through Holy Intervention. The beginning of a new era.

</aside>## History

After the effects of the false monarchs taking the throne and assassinating King Olaf II Fritz, it grew painfully obvious that the King was growing to be even more of a target, and there were likely still loyalists to the Lange-Fritz lineage, therefore, the Heir to the Throne gained consistently more authority and power, growing to be a bit of a figure-head who handled public affairs more often than not, and became trained in defensive situations as needed. This became a public plan in a rare public appearance where King Aiga I Fritz discussed defense plans following years of discontent between the monarchy and citizens. The royal maids within the palace began noticing more heavily guarded private meetings between the two, as well as various silent cart rides away from the palace.

Heirs began to work directly alongside the military in combative missions, having been trained by the best of the best in order to be a direct right hand to the king, both in duty and in defense, as well as intel gathering. Even in the most minor of public appearances, it appeared

as if they were extremely on edge at all times, though, despite it all, it always appeared as if the Heir was fully prepared for whatever came, and the role came to grow alongside a persona of being an impenetrable wall.

Whatever the Crown was doing worked though, as years of safety for the King for the most part followed. Minor attacks and conspiracies rarely occurred, and if they did happen they were squashed quickly. Rumors circulated in regard to what the King could be doing, though no comment was ever made from any of the Kings or their Heirs. The more public appearances of direct members of the Monarchy were taken kindly by the citizens, though, as the Crown regularly became able to see what the people needed and could talk to them, which seemed to squash the intent of assassinations. A primary example would fall to the Heir of King Florian II Fritz, Crown Prince Ricard I Fritz, who was an active fighter for military operations, even holding an estimated twelve human kills of various enemies to the military and the crown. Unfortunately, the young prince succumbed to sudden illness in his sleep before the brave man would rise to the crown.

## Present Day

Today, the Crown is an integral part of public life, and many residents of the Districts are fortunate enough to be blessed by a member of the Monarchy's presence on rare occasion. The Heir and King continue to involve themselves with the day-to-day activities of the population at large, continuing the centuries-long traditions of squashing any ill intentions towards the monarchy with positive publicity and good, honest work.
