History
During the evening of January 6th, 835, a group of high ranking members of the military approached the Chief of Engineering of the Research Team, Kiwami Jaeger with a proposal in secret. Due to the increasing unrest among civilians, sometimes leading to armed conflict, these officers tasked Chief Engineer Jaeger to construct a weapon using ODMG. Witnessing his work on his past weapons which greatly aided humanity, much like Margaret Evermoore did in her time, the group decided to commission him to bring their idea to life. Sworn to absolute secrecy, he began to work quickly on Project “Disposable Heroes”. Through tireless hours, failed designs, and countless revisions, he finally cracked it and created the final blueprint, forever dubbing his creation, “Anti-Personnel Gear”. This new weapon was a dual gun wielding, fully mobile, masterpiece of a design that continues to the military's elite forces to this day.
Anti-Personnel Gear
This new gear was a complete overhaul of the original Omni-Mobility Gear's designed, meant to be used against Titans, instead being designed for Human targets. It featured a single large iceburst gas tank which carried on the back of the operator, opposed to the twin gas tanks fitted to the hips of the standard ODM. This change improved balance, gave it decent gas storage, and minimized the bulkiness seen on ODM. The cable housings from the original ODMG, which were fitted to the lower back of the ODM Operator, were now fitted to either side of the gas tank on the operator's back, and had the cables lengthened for greater range. AP replaced the Ultra-Hard Steel blades, with steel gun barrels which are holstered on a thigh leather holster on each thigh for ease of access to the operator. These barrels are made from standard steel, such as the one found on the Musket or Martini-Henry, to save on costs and to save valuable resources, and are fitted with a priming cap, filled with gunpowder, and packed in with a single large musket ball round, for maximum lethality in combat. The handles kept the same idea, but changed their functions. Instead of receiving blades which the gear no longer had, Kiwami Jaeger designed these new trigger handles to be able to fire and reload the gun barrels with ease, whilst keeping the ODM handle controls found on the standard ODM. The trigger handles were also fitted with the gear hook launchers, formerly fitted to the hip, which were now under the triggers, which provides better mobility during combat, allowing an operator to quickly retreat from unideal situations with better precision unlike standard ODM.
The Creator
Seeing the potential for destruction if his invention got into the wrong hands, much like the use of Margaret Evermoore's ODM gear by rebellious groups against the Walls, a paranoid Kiwami Jaeger heavily guarded his blueprint and build process. Only those he completely trusted were allowed a peek at his work, such as his mother, Section Commander Rionna Jaeger, and his brother, Captain Isidor Jaeger, both of whom aided in the creation of the first sets of AP, and several other figures from the Research Team he trusted to help him continue the AP Project. As more and more of the people he once trusted were killed in battle, Kiwami Jaeger decided to retire from his long military service and stepped away, recognizing that it was time for the new generation to take his place to guide humanity into further advancements while offering a helping hand and guidance whenever the need arose.
Present Day
In the present day, Anti-Personnel Gear is one of the greatest assets the military has in its arsenal. It's fast, packs tremendous firepower, and continues to be a token of fear for criminals who dare attack Humanity. By now, the secrecy of Anti-Personnel Gear has vanished, as AP Gear has become a common sight for civilians during district operations. Those who supported the military see it as a beacon of hope for a safer tomorrow, a way of ensuring peace and stability for them and their loved ones. All the while those critical to the military see AP Gear as nothing but a means to forcefully keep order through fear and intimidation.
