About

“They came in the dark—red blades igniting like bleeding stars. Whatever they are… they’re not Jedi. And they’re not supposed to exist.”
— Unidentified Mandalorian survivor, Bosthirn skirmish log

The Lords of Ruin are a near-mythical force said to haunt the edges of known space. Reports speak of masked warriors clad in tattered black and crimson armor, wielding red lightsabers unlike any modern design—archaic, brutal, and crackling with instability. Despite numerous attempts by Republic historians and Jedi archivists, no official records confirm the group's origin, hierarchy, or intent. Most dismiss these accounts as superstition or the desperate fabrications of war-traumatized soldiers.

Known History

Little is known of the Lords of Ruin, and what does surface comes from whispered accounts, wreckage left behind, or encrypted transmissions intercepted by Outer Rim outposts.

The Varnak Vigil (980 RSY)

A Jedi investigation into dark Force disturbances ended in tragedy. Two Knights were lost. The surviving Padawan was found wandering the jungle, muttering:

“I felt them before I saw them. Cold… but burning. Like the Force was turning against me. They moved like shadows. But I swear… I saw one smile beneath the mask.”

He then choked on his own blood and collapsed. There was a stone with the engraving left by the attackers, in a language never seen before that said the following:

𐍊 𐌳𐎣 𐎗 — 𐐘𐑉𐌈 𐌳𐎣 𐐦𐐿 𐌶𐎣 𐐿 𐑉𐎴

This has yet to be decrypted by any Jedi.

Bosthirn Skirmish (978 RSY)

A trade convoy traveling through the Vanquor Sector vanished. Republic scouts found only scorched bulkheads and mutilated husks of droids and guards. One survivor—later found delirious—claimed to witness “figures made of ash and shadow, wielding blood-red fire.” His hololog has since been sealed by the Republic Security Bureau.

The Screaming Night (935 RSY)

A mining colony on the moon of Luthar II went completely dark. When private security arrived, they found the entire population dead—no alarms, no signs of struggle. Autopsies revealed internal burns caused by energy weapons.
