Arrival
A meteor crashed near the Land of Fire. Konohagakure shinobi quickly went to the crash site and investigated. There, they found a meteorite that continued to steam and remain hot despite constant barrages of water jutsu. Carter Uchiha suggested they travel to Sunagakure and gather Oribe to help melt the exterior. They went to Sunagakure and were able to convince some Oribe to come to the crash site. The Oribe were eventually able to melt the exterior of the meteor. The Konoha shinobi immediately sprayed it with continuous water jutsu to cool it off. Eventually, it cooled down and Carter Uchiha took possession of it.
Forging
Despite the meteorite not having any immediate applications, Carter kept trying to think of ways to utilize the meteorite they found. While watching two shinobi fight one day, he noticed something when they fought. He saw shinobi's blade chip. He thought about a blade that wouldn't be chipped and could still hit just as hard. He gathered a group of chunin and jonin and told them he needed help. He showed them the ore that was extracted from the meteorite. He said that the ore was stronger than most and could only be worked on by a master smith. He told the shinobi he needed them to find a blacksmith who could undertake the task. After days of searching, they came across a man residing in the mountains of the Land of Lightning. They found him forging blades stronger than anything the shinobi had seen before. They immediately sent word to Carter. When Carter arrived, the blacksmith largely ignored them until they showed him the meteorite ore. He immediately understood what was required. He said, “This will forge a greater blade, but it is too impure. It will take the greatest furnace to forge it.” He told them they would have to scale a large volcano to his old workshop that used heat straight from the magma. As they traveled up the great volcano, the old blacksmith seemed exhausted. He pushed on despite the pain in his lungs and reached the summit. He forged the blade at a painstaking pace. He hit his hammer as hard as he could at a consistent rhythm. At last, he plunged the blade into the water. After that, he polished the blade as needed and walked over to Carter. He told Carter, “This weapon is my legacy… I am now passing it on to you, Carter Uchiha. Its name is 'Gunbai'. You will now carry on my will.” Carter asks what the man's name is. The man replies “Musashi” then falls over and dies.
