Ima-Gun-Di
Early Life
Ima Gun Di was born in Hutt controlled space, where his earliest years were shaped by slavery. As a child he was moved through a trafficking chain tied to Hutt interests along the edge of Republic territory. During a Jedi recovery effort, the transport he was on was intercepted and those being moved through it were freed. The Jedi involved recognized his Force sensitivity and brought him into the Order.
He was taken to the Temple young enough to be given a new life, but not so young that he forgot the old one. That stayed with him. More than anything else, it shaped the way he came to understand what a Jedi was meant to be. To Ima, power means very little unless it is being used to stand between the helpless and the people who would prey on them.
Personality and Leadership
Ima Gun Di leads through steadiness. He does not ask others to face dangers he would avoid himself, and if a line has to be held, he is usually standing in it. He does not romanticize war, and he does not speak lightly about sacrifice. The people who serve beside him tend to trust him quickly because he stays composed when conditions begin to break others down.
He values friendship deeply, even if he does not speak of it often. His bond with Ki Adi Mundi was built through campaign service and mutual trust, and his friendship with Commander Keller grew the same way, through hardship, losses, and shared responsibility. Ima does not see those bonds as weakness. In his mind, they are part of what keeps duty from turning cold and empty.
His view of the Jedi is simple. The innocent, the weak, and those who cannot defend themselves must come first. A Jedi is meant to place themselves in danger when others would suffer in their place. The power granted by the Force does not come lightly, and because of that it can never be treated lightly either.
The Clone Wars
During the Clone Wars, Master Ima Gun Di went through many campaigns. One of his campaigns were the Yerbana campaign. During the campaign on Yerbana, Ima fought beside Ki Adi Mundi and the 21st, helping secure the planet and force enemy withdrawal. The battle tied his name closely to the battalion and established him as a dependable battlefield commander. It was one of the first campaigns that made clear he was someone the men of the 21st could trust when pressure started building.
The next campaign that defined him more than any other was the Siege of Carida. When Republic forces on Carida were blockaded and worn down under sustained pressure, Ima remained with the fighting through its worst stages. The campaign was marked by attrition, bombardment, failed pushes, and constant losses, but he continued to hold alongside the men still left standing. It was not a clean campaign, and it was not a glorious one. It was a grinding fight that demanded endurance more than heroics.
During the fighting on Carida, he encountered Ventress directly. After seeing clones cut down beside him, he told her, “You do not deserve to feel the Force.” Even with the blockade tightening and the battlefield grinding men down from one day to the next, he stayed in the fight long enough to help force a CIS retreat and secure the planet.
Ima-Gun-Di is currently deployed on Rhen Var, where he and the 21st remain blockaded under continued CIS pressure. The campaign has only reinforced the role he has come to fill in the war effort. He is not reckless and he is not theatrical. He is the one who holds when others cannot.
Combat
Carida exposed the limits of what his former blade could keep asking of him. The fighting had become too prolonged, too compressed, and too brutal for a standard battlefield saber style to keep meeting the role he had taken on. Ima had become a line holder, someone expected to cover more space, absorb more pressure, and keep others alive under constant strain. In response, he designed and forged a Greatsaber suited to that purpose. It was built for reach, leverage, and endurance. Its creation was not vanity. It was an adaptation, shaped by the kind of warfare he had already survived and the role he knew he would continue to carry.
Ima’s combat style is centered on control, endurance, and defensive pressure. He is at his best when the battle becomes prolonged and unforgiving. He does not waste movement, does not overcommit, and does not chase empty openings. His focus is always the survival of the line, the protection of those around him, and creating the space others need to live. That approach has defined both his reputation and the way others understand him. He is a Guardian in the clearest sense of the word. His first instinct is not display, but protection.
Jedi High Council
Ima’s steadiness in war and his reliability in command eventually led to his place on the Jedi High Council. From there, he did not become distant from the battlefield. Instead, he carried what he had learned from it into the Order itself.
He serves as the Jedi Order’s Interservice Liaison, maintaining trust and coordination between the Order, the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Navy. He is not there to command the military. He is there to make sure the Jedi can work with it cleanly and that the bond between them does not weaken under strain.
Reserve Jedi General
Even with his Council duties, Ima remains active as Reserve Jedi General for the 21st. His connection to the battalion is personal. He has fought beside its men, carried responsibility for their losses, and built real trust with the officers who lead them, especially Commander Keller. To the 21st, Ima is not just a Council member or a Master of the Order. He is one of their own.
